Frequently Asked Questions

Why Should I Choose Online Christian Counseling?

Online Christian Counseling is being endorsed by major healthcare providers across the country, and is becoming increasingly popular for the following reasons:

  • Geography – You don’t have to settle for the limited therapy options in your community.
  • Mobility – You don’t have to be limited by transportation issues, or by any physical or emotional challenges that may keep you homebound.
  • Convenience – You don’t need to fight traffic to get to your appointment and can do Zoom therapy from the convenience of home.
  • Confidentiality – You don’t need to worry about bumping into friends or acquaintances at a public counseling clinic.
  • Portability – If you happen to be out of town, or even move to another location in Minnesota, you can keep your therapist.
  • Quality – Studies have shown that Remote Therapy is as effective as face-to-face therapy.
  • Safety – Whether we’re in a snowstorm or a pandemic, you can still receive therapy.

What do I need to begin Online Christian Counseling?

For online Christian counseling, all you need is an internet connection and a quiet space. Similar to Skype and other video-conferencing services, our HIPAA-compliant version of Zoom is a simple, confidential, and convenient way to do therapy.

What do I need for my first session?

After booking your appointment over the phone with our scheduling team, you will be sent a welcome email including links for your zoom session and for filling out your paperwork ahead of time. A few minutes before your appointment is scheduled to start, simply click on the zoom link from this welcome email and wait until your therapist starts the meeting.

How long are my sessions?

Sessions are typically 55 minutes long, and most people find it helpful to meet once a week.  For those paying cash, there may be an option to pay for longer sessions.

What services do you offer?

Please browse this website to read more about the many services we offer, including individual therapy, Christian marriage counseling, Christian family therapy, EMDR Therapy, wellness coaching, healing from a loss or tragedy, and play therapy techniques. We also provide Christian Counseling for the most common mental health and relational issues including anxiety, depression, PTSD, addiction, family conflicts, and parenting issues. All our therapists are able to provide these services from a Christian-focused perspective for clients who desire it.

How much does it cost?

In the wake of COVID, now almost all major insurance plans include telehealth as a covered benefit. While we are contracted with many insurance companies, we always recommend that you check directly with your insurance to make sure services will be covered. If for some reason insurance doesn’t pay, you’ll be responsible to pay for these sessions out of pocket.

Are there any risks associated with Telehealth?

Telehealth includes the same potential risks and benefits as any therapy. However, given that the therapist and client are in separate locations, addressing client safety concerns can be more challenging. As such, the we are unable to treat clients remotely who have a history of suicide attempts, self-harm (cutting, etc.), severe mental illness such as Schizophrenia, and those with significant Dissociation. If these issues emerge after beginning therapy, our therapists reserve the right to refer you to another mental health professional in your area in order to give you the level of support you need.
